A&Q about 350Z

I have been experiencing two annoying noises in my Z. I refuse to take it to the dealer if I can avoid it. The one was coming from the brakes and it sounded like a rotor rubbing on the disc. I could hear it if I drove near a fence or building. I tightened up my park break cable and quess what? The sound was coming from the rear park-drum assembly. The extra slack in the cable was allowing something to make the noise. If you have not tightened your park break yet, it is very easy. remove the ash tray and you will see the adjuster nut. pull the handle up about two notches and it is easily tightened using a 10mm socket. After tightening I made sure that in the full off possition you can wiggle the cable with your fingers, assuring that the cable has some slack. The second noise was a vibration that occured at certain rpms as my automatic was going through the gears. Im sure all of you have heard this type of sound and would know what I am talking about. The challenge if finding it while the car is parked with engine off. The source of the vibration was a heat shield that is placed near the muffer on the right side. The very thin sheet metal gaurd was vibrating at sellect rpms. Once you know what to look for it is easily fixed. I just bent the metal to create a more rigid assembly. Bends in the sheet metal creates strength. Hope this helps someone else.
