A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I use the Mr. Clean system.. but with McGuires soap and it also works well... As endgames said... its because the water is filtered that it dries without spots. I don't know how... just know that it does... :)
A:
Reason is that the actual H20 isn't what causes water spots, its the other crap thats in tap water that does it. Things like minerals, chlorine, metals, etc cause the nasty water spot. Being that the water is filtered it eliminates most of the crap in the water.

"What I like about the Autodry over hand drying is not having to touch the surface of the car. It's a bit overly paranoid, but if I can remove the possibility of scratching the finish it's worth it. "
The trick to hand drying is to not rub the towel across the surface of the car. I lay a waffle-weave microfiber towel on the few remaining spots of water and it absorbs them. Also, if you sheet the rinse water the majority of it will run off the car leaving only a few small drops to be dried. The less you have to dry, the less problem you'll have with scratches.

280z/300zx is absolutely correct.
i used to work in a touchless tunnel wash, nothing touched yoru car, but you still never had water spots.
why?
well, we had a huge water softner and sets of filters that toook all the "other crap" out of the tap water, so there was nothing left to leave spots.
it has nothing at all to do with the "beading action" or the "sheeting action" or anything like that, weather or not you leave water spots has to do with the purity of the water you rinse with.
im sure for the same effect you could go and buy some jugs of distilled water, and after you wash your car just rinse it really well with the distillled water.
it would be a bit of a pain to have to dump jugs of water on yoru car to rinse it (as well as expensive) but it would provide a spot free, towle free dry car.
i have never even heard of this "Mr. Clean" system, is it just a set of filters that attaches to your garden hose?

I suspect your touchless tunnel wash also had a big-ass blower at the end to help blow off a lot of the water. I use my leaf blower to accomplish the same thing.
Removing the impurities from water keeps it from leaving a residue on the surface after the spot dries. But you're not going to remove ALL the impurities with a single filter in a Mr. Clean spray gun.
You don't want beading as that is what causes water spots. Sheeting results in a majority of the water to run off the surface as one big "drop" and it leaves little or no water behind. You won't get sheeting from the Mr. Clean because of the small amount of water that it sprays in it final filtered rinse.
Yes, one of the parts of the Mr Clean system is a water filter.

lol yep it had a big ass blower, but it was out of date and didnt do a very good job (decent, but still alot of water spots left on the car, but they dryed clear)
im sorry man, but if i was walking down the street and saw some guy taking a leaf blower to his car i would walk over, point and laugh.
its a good idea, but the mental picture i have of that is fuking hillarious!!

Tried it, didn't like some of the "run" spots that it left while drying. Still had to do some spray detailing. I still use it on my wife's SUV though. She doesn't see the freakin' difference anyway and it keeps me from having to hand-dry that beast!!
