I hope you get the shifter replaced under warranty, they are pretty pricey to replace. You can get the shifter at courtesyparts.com for $110.98!!! Ouch!

Good idea on the leather conditioner, I have been doing this on the shift knob myself.

mwest300zx...what leather conditioner do you recomend? I've used some we have at our dealer from "Dealer supply wharehouse" and now the seats in my Prelude all of a sudden are falling apart (destroyed) and I don't want that to happen to the Z so I don't use it anymore.

A lot of folks have replaced their knobs. You probably can pick up an OEM one from an ad in one of the forums. Nissans $100.+ is rediculous..
