My 350Z OEM-style BOOST gauge

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I wondered if Nissan offered the 350Z from the factory, what the requisite factory boost gauge would look like. No A-pillar setup, but they'd probably do what they did on the 280ZX turbo and 1st gen 300ZX turbos and replace the VOLTS gauge with a BOOST gauge. I took a 350Z center gauge cluster and desoldered the VOLTS electro-mechanical movement from the PC board. I found a vac/boost gauge off of ebay, cut out the mecahnical movement and mounted it on the PC board formerly occupied by the VOLTS gauge movement. I then had custom gauge faces made for boost that matched the sweep and markings of the aftermarket gauge only with an OEM font that matched the existing OIL & VOLTS gauges. Now understand because of the limited sweep area of the factory cluster, I had to make compromises on what I could include on the scale. I chose 15 In.Hg to 15 PSI. If I could do it over again (and I will), I would change to 20 In.Hg and 10 PSI since at idle, the needle is off of the face until you give it gas and with stock compression on the VQ35DE, 10~11 PSI is about it safely. Anyway below are pics of it installed in my friends 350Z with a Greddy Twin Turbo setup:

It's a credit to the fabricator when you can't tell aftermarket from factory. Congratulations on a job very well done.

Thanks for the compliment. This was one of those things I wanted to do "just because". I've already spent a couple of hundred $'s just getting the prototype made with the cost of a used 350Z center gauge cluster, the custom BOOST & OIL gauge faces, and the BOOST lettering for the front. I gave this custom cluster to my friend and told him to keep it - cost of R&D I guess.
