Lots of used 350z's?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

It seems that there are many used Z's up for sale with 10k - 15k miles or so. Is this unusual? Is it due to the tire feathering issues I've read about? I can't imagine so many people buying a car for 1 year.
A:

sold mine w/ 5000 mi. no feathering, or any problem. Just decided it didnt fit my lifestyle. performance 6sp. black. sold for 26,500 . enjoyed the car for 15 mos. not a bad if you think of it as a lease.I think most people are selling because they dont understand a sports car, it has many limitations such as winter traction. The beater car car is necessary imo. My car was on the market for 2 weeks. new england. there are a lot more mercedes & jags for sale around here than z's.

Some folks are selling their 350's because that have decided to have a family.
They need a backseat, at minimum.

Not worth it.

The only reason I would sell mine would be to buy a roadster.

Check one out, okay? Post your thoughts ...

Actually, I have been checking them out since the first information about the prototype emerged. I would have purchased one long ago, if I'd had extra cash at the time. My thoughts... what would you get if you took the perfect car, the 240z of course, and gave it a bigger engine, curvier lines, more plush interior, and a couple more gears...
I let my SportZ subscription lapse and stopped monitoring sites like ZCar.com, because I have been z-less for the last couple of years. Just started "rechecking" them out recently. I greatly appreciate all of the feedback. There is no doubt that I will purchase one in the near future, but am still a little unsure about which year model.

Procrastination !
>>>>>>>>>>>>
Aaaaah. Yes, I am a procrastinator, but I wasn't always. I bought the '84 and '85 new and it took most of my income just to make two payments at about 13% APR. Since then, I have procrastinated, saved alot of money paying cash for cars, avoided paying interest, and avoided paying for the first 1 to 2 years depreciation (actually about 10 for the 280). I own my house and both cars and plan to start taking flying lessons soon . . .
It's great feeling like a procrastinator, even if it causes some youngster to doubt my desire to own a 350z.

well if your worried about buying a Z because of the problems, tire feathering, etc etc. and you will be dissasitisfied with your Z if it has problems than save yourself the worry and us the ache of listening to your complaints, and do not buy an 03 or 04.

drivenZ,
Based on all of the information I've gathered so far, I am leaning toward taking your advice and buying an '05 new. Hopefully the issues you mentioned will be resolved and like others have pointed out, the used ones are holding their price/value well (and not selling much cheaper than new).
If you stop and think about it though, I am not the one complaining.... its those other folks that bought ones with feathering problems, leaky convertible roofs, and other problems that have been doing all of the complaining.

The following FAQs might be helpful for new posters...
Can I use the “f” word or ask questions about “f’ing”?
No. Questions about “f’ing” will not be tolerated. Some existing owners have made repeated visits to their dealers to resolve issues related to “f’ing”, and if they had to do it other new buyers should, too. Further, some owners have cars for sale on eBay, and any mention of “f’ing” may affect their final bid price. Please stick to questions about how neat 350z’s look, how fast they accelerate, and requests for information about cool aftermarket add-ons.
Should I be concerned about the potential need to make repeated visits to my dealer?
No. Making repeated visits to your dealer for warranty work or other repairs is no different than frequently downloading patches to fix buggy software. This is simply a part of the cost of owning the best car on the market, and should be accepted as such without question.

Sorry guys, but after some of the dweeby responses I got to my last question, I couldn’t resist.

Some dweeby responses are irrelevant.

Despite all it's problems (and it has far more than it should), the 350 is a great car for the price.
If you think if it as a woman, the 350Z is a stunning, drop-dead gorgeous athletic blond with rheumatoid arthritis, bad knees, nervous system disorders, and she goes through a pair of sneakers in a couple months. If you can manage her flaws, she'll be gorgeous for years.
