A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I watched my wife take off down the street in the Z and noticed too much white exhaust coming out of the tail pipes. Anyone else notice this?
I realize we complain a lot about our Z's. With a few exceptions here it's because we love them and want them to be perfect. I don't care what anyone says about them being peices or they have too many problems. I love it and wouldn't trade it.
Even if NNA does offer an all encompassing buy back for '03's w/ tire issues. They will not get this one back. I'd still take the $75k pay the Z and my house off and buy a roadster. But it'll be a cold day in **** before I part with my Z.

you realize, greasemonkey, that nissan is buying back the 03's because of their collector status. they'll buy them back, put a new front suspension on them, and then resell them at a huge profit as "classic 2003 Z's"

I haven't noticed this with my Z but I did notice it with my 2002 Maxima SE. Nissan told me that this is normal AS LONG AS IT'S HAPPENING RIGHT AFTER A COLD START. They told me that it's NOT normal for this to happen after the engine has warmed up.

What color is the sky in your world? Any dealer that tells you Nissan is buying back the cars is trying to sell you a new car. It's a common scam that occurs by dealers when sales are slow; they send out letters saying that "manufacturer X is buying back '04 model cars due to demand!" and then ask you to come in, and basically sell a new car to you at a bit lower than normal markup.
There is going to be nothing Collector about these cars; the design is very time-based and as such will affect the long-term staying power. Note that Toyota just discontinued the Celica GTS and MR2 Spyder for the same reasons.

As per the smoke problem, if the car is parked outdoors or in a damp area, expect white smoke when the car is first started as the exhaust baffles heat up and the moisture is blown out. It can look very scary at first. But it should be totally gone in a matter of minutes.
If it appears only under heavy throttle after the car is warm, then you are likely burning coolant or oil. If it's oil and the smoke is dark, then your rings are worn or damaged. If it's white, then it might be the head gasket.

I have heard of other 02/03 Maxima and 350Z owners saying the same thing after warm up, I havent noticed it on our 03 Max or 350Z. God I hope the 3.5 doesnt turn out to be like a Mitsubishi motor. They are known for smoking.

my z smokes a little bit every one in a while when you get on it. but it could also be that its 21 years old and needs some new valve guide seals. as for the white smoke like the others said it is just moisture from the air.
