Roader strange sound from the rear

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Its a 350Z. Has problems out the wazooo.
A:

SRL11, I guess your sole purpose here is to inform 350Z owners that they have problems with their cars. Another troll is born!
A:

Troll's lie.
I am not a troll. Speaking the truth. I assume Zoldmans 350 z is very unique, without tire feathering, without tranmission problems, without the rear rattle, without the greasestreak, without the window failures, the list is far too long. Very fortunate Zoldman.
BTW I have been on this board since pre-order days, and have not just been born, and was unfortunate enough to take delivery of a pre-order model, which I am now in the process of BBB arbitration for a NNA buyback.
A:

I love my 350z!!! So if you don't like it trade it. otherwise... piss off
Oh and never, ever buy a ist model year... Dumbass

SRL,
I can understand your fustration over your Z and of Zs in general but thats not helping his question just to inform him he has bought a piece of junk.
If I posted a question about my Ford Taurus here I would hope to get a response other than for everyone to tell me Ford sucks and Taurus's blow. Believe me I know Ford's track record and even more I know the failure rate of the Taurus line but that would not answer my question.
Moving on, the Z is plagued with rattles here and there that everyone can relate to but I haven't heard of anyone talking about that particular area.

The worst new car experience of my life was when I bought my son a new 1999 Ford Ranger. The biggest POS that I've ever owned. Brake master cylinder replaced ( twice ), A/C failed, oil pan replaced, door locks replaced ( due to locking mechanism failure ), 2 brake lights replaced, truck bed mounted crooked, etc. The final insult ? Engine replaced ( oozing oil leak coming from the backside of the engine block ). All this and more in 8 months. Right after the engine was replaced I traded it in !
P.S. Based on my experience with Ford, the one good thing that I can say about them is that they gave me no resistance whatsoever on any of the repairs or replaced parts and equipment, including the engine replacement. In the Ford service dept. they took all of this in stride, just as if it was an integral part of their daily routine.

The Ford service centers in my opinion know their product isn't grand and have accepted that long ago and as you said, take it in stride. Heck, even the salesman that was showing me a mustang one day said Ford wouldn't be around very long if they depended on their car line. Cars can tear up but if the service is there when it does, that may be exactly why Ford still sells so many products when most know Fords horrible track record.
With Nissan, like most imports have a better track record but I do feel the service centers may feel somewhat insulted or hard to believe that their products are having so many problems.
Once they accept the problems and are quick to fix them and not make excuses, they will have my return business, as my local dealer has done for me and are great in my eyes. Sorry if your dealer isn't realizing the long term effects of their actions.

Some insurance companies will not pay anything if your vehicle is stolen and the keys were used to drive off in it.
My '03 touring trade in value is $27,100 according to KBB.
Also Motor Trend rated the Z as holding it's value in the sports car market.

in 1995 i bought a ford explorer 2 door sport with 4WD. have over 86000 miles on it, and warranty ran out on everything years ago. i've spent perhaps $2K in 10 years on this vehicle.
sure, there's a few problems. same with the Z. i have had fords or mercuries throughout my life, and found them highly reliable.
not sure where you live, but could quality be that much of a locality issue?

IMO if you want to get a good feel for a car maker's quality look at the service dept. YARD. My ' 99 Ranger was at a Ford dealership for ~ 1 week when the engine was being replaced. It was parked in the service yard most of that time waiting for the engine to arrive. I made several trips to that yard to check on my truck. I could not believe the wreckage back there. The yard was overflowing with disabled late model Ford vehicles. Opened and unopened wooden crates, engines and transmissions ( in various conditions ), parts, fluids, you name it just strewn on the ground everywhere. Several of these vehicles, including 2 Cobra mustangs, had no engines. Just a terrible mess. BTW, I too was raised around Ford vehicles that were good quality ... back in the 1960s and 1970s !
