A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Ahhhh...., Nissan Quality, when will they learn to build their flagship vehicle properly? Some many problems and issues. I knew that when the roadster came out with the droptop that it would be problematic. These minor water leaks are probably just the beginning.
A:
For your info most convertibles do leak...more or less. Not just Nissan.

A:
hell my porsche targa was a freakin seive.
but, it's true, there are certain drawbacks with most convertibles. leaking is the main one.

you leave your z out in the rain?
A:
Zoldman,
You should go into the Guinness book of records for having an 03Z with zero problems for 30K miles. I think you are the only one. You exhibit singularity in the universe and should have your Z Enshrined in the Smithsonian. Somehow I believe that you are complete liar, with all of the horrid posts on multiple boards, the number of buybacks, and the uncountable horror stories. You also exhibit very bad taste in owning multiple Z's, when the only worthy one was built in 1970, the others being luxo sport fat pig cars, the Z strayed from being a pure sports car which led to it's demise. You sound like a friggin NNA rep, owning 18 Nissans. I also seriously doubt that you know what a 1969 2000 is, how it relates to the Z, and its capabilities, and whre my handle SRL311 is derived from. Ignorant idiot! Tell me the difference between an SPL311 and an SRL311, and I might respect that you have more than 1 brain cell in your head.
In closing let me leave you with one final comment.... Go F your Z in the tailpipe like you do your same sex partner, but do it without the KY, you will probably like the way the carbon feels you love your perfect Z so much!!!!! Again - Idiot!
A:
Perfect!!! You have proved my point (several times).
Goodbye for now. I am sure we will see you on another thread very soon complaining about Nissan.
TROLL
A:
No, no more complaining from me, I am a very happy camper now. Just got notified by the BBB that my arbitration hearing has resulted in NNA agreeing to buyback my 350Z. God smiles upon NNA victims favorably. I will be very happy dusting 350z's in my 1969 2000 roadster, which does 174 mph out of the box without mods. I have seen so many 350z's fading in my mirror. Go to the Summit point raceway and see how 2000's own the track, 95% of the time taking 1'st and 2'nd place in open class. See ya 350, good riddence. Keepers - 1969 2000 (aka SRL311), 1990 Miata, 1967 chrysler 4 door B-body.
Zoldman = iggnorant old Fart who I would like to dust and see in my mirror. But I believe you need cushiness and coddling for your tender butt, and would scream like a little girl if you ever had to drive or ride in a 2000, a pure raw roadster with no AC. Go take your geritol.

SRL311,
There's a difference between a 350Z owner venting about an issue with their car and some lamer trashing talking someone for having purchased one for no apparent reason.
I'm sure whatever vehicle is unfortunate enough to have you for its owner next will have problems, too. I've owned 10 vehicles, 5 of them new, from a variety of manufacturers, and none have been without quibbles of some variety. I also repair a wide variety of late-model cars and get to see all sorts of issues... everything from Audis to Volvos.
If you can't tolerate your Z's issues, then fine... but those of us who have decided to live with (and love!) ours regardless are not interested in your inane babbling rants.
By the way, how many hours of laps does it take your magic "bone stock" 2000 Roadster to reach 174mph? Does it require dropping it from an F-18 onto the track running? Or falling off a cliff and reaching terminal velocity before impact? Not that I'm knocking the 2000 Roadster, those things are nifty old cars, but you're simply full of it. Even an SRL311 with the comp kit wouldn't hold a candle to a 350Z.
And I've seen countless convertibles and targa top cars that leak, including Miatas. If your vehicle's roof comes off or lowers, it's just asking for water to penetrate it. It's a trade-off for the experience of "topless" driving.
So fine, go and buy yourself an '88 Dodge Colt that does 0-60 in 4 seconds stock and leave the rest of us alone.

1969 2000 w/Mikunis reaches 174 from a dead stop, on a flat road in about 11 to 13 seconds, never really timed it, to busy holding on for dear life. If it can't hold a candle to a 350z, how come it stomps on every one that tries to challenge it? I have counted 17 so far. This car has never been beaten in a race. It used to kill the fabled Chevelle SS 396's when they roamed the roads. They did not put a 180 mph speedo in it for no reason. If you were truly a mechanic you would know how insanely fast 2000's are. If so you definitely do not know how to tune one properly. Tuned properly they are an absolute rocket. Dropped from an F18, how insanely absurd. The top does leak water however, thats why they put removable plug drain holes in the floorboard. I can live with that. I could not live with replacing tires every 6000 to 7000 miles on the 350. I love running into people like you on the road who do not know the full capabilities of the 1669 and 1970 2000's. Hope to see ya out there in your 350z so you can get a good look at my tailights.
A:
SRL311.............OK, but did your top leak?
PS: My friends Ford Escort has a 140mph speedo. Now that must be a fast car.
A:
Yes, if you could read I did state that the convertible top does leak, and I have never been able to cure it. The water does drain nicely out the drain holes nicely in the floorboard though. No carpet on the floorboards, just vinyl mats. Too hardcore for you. Escorts are a joke, 2000's are deadly serious. God would I like to spank your 350 soooooo bad. Show some respect oldman. If you ever see a metallic Bronze Imron painted 2000, with a four point functional roll bar coming your way, please, please, challenge it. You will be so humbled.
A:
Hmmm... all cars have removable drain plugs in the floor... in case they get WATER IN THEM!

Bud,
Who are you kidding. I had those cars new and there wasn't any of the, as they were known then, "Jap Crap" out there that could keep up. You, as the others have said before me, are full of it.

BTW, I have a close friend that has a NHRA Super Gas 1941 fiberglass Willy's that runs the 1/4 in 9.31 seconds at 152 MPH with its front wheels in the air. Hummmm........... must be something wrong with it since it can't hit 174 in 11 seconds

I own a 2004 Black Roadster and found the same problem. There are small pin holes in the rear corner of the roof where all 3 pieces come together. You can only find them when looking from the inside of the car in bright sun. It is a manufacturing problem that Nissan had with the roof. My dealer Venice Nissan has replaced the entire roof including the frame. The new roof has a lot more padding on it. Nissan does know about the problem.
