A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Zdrivers,
Im in the market for a new car and I had a few questions about the 350Z
1.) is there anyway to get the brembro brakes on the base model?
2.) I was looking at the 06 b/c of the 300hp , but is there a better/perferred year ?
3.) Is there anything I should lookout for when getting a 350?
4.) Also, how is the upkeep ? Are they super high Maintenance ?
I currently drive a 92Z and Im stuck between a 350 or a evo but I want something that is as fun to drive as my Z if not better. Any info would be greatly appreciated! THANKS

1. You can put them on there. If you want Brembos get the car with brembos already on it. That being said, they only help brake fade on hardcore track driving, no difference on the street regardless of what you have been told/sold.
2. The overall output is the same. Hp went up a little, tq went down a little. If this hasn't already been beaten in your head, the 03/04 models some of them had tire feathering. In general, the dealers have given tires away like birthday cakes at bennigans anyways.
3. Same things with any other car.
4. The oldest 350z is a whopping 3 years old. Super high maintenance? What....?!?

all model year 350Z have their respective highs and lows. 06 have better interior and nice stock wheels, but they're approximately 130 lbs. heavier than the 03 to 05 models. So if you're thinking of modifiying your Z eventually, I think it's best to go with the 03 to 05. In my opinion gianing 130 lbs is too much weight. It's so hard to get the weight down even by stipping your car. But, if you're just gonna keep the 350z the way it is and just enjoy whatever comes with the car. I'd say go with the 06. However if you're serious about racing it, go with the older models. And by the way, maintenance wise, not expensive. Just like maintaining an Altima or Maxima.

1)not from the dealer, but you can get any number of aftermarket BBK's that are as good as the brembos(stoptech, rotora, brembo of course but they're pricey) a kit will run you 2-4k depending on what you get. Also you can scour classifieds on line, sometimes people sell theyre brembos if they upgraded. The stock non-brembos are definitly plenty good enough for street use though.
2) like what everybody else said...the 03-05's are pretty much identical. 06's do have 300hp but torque is down weight is up a bit. There are some minor exterior changes and interior upgrades though.
3) if you're buying used...by 05 most of the bugs had been worked out of the car you shouldnt have much to worry about if you buy an 05. 03 and 04's theres some issues with the touring model bose stereo, window motor problems, clicking rear axle, shifter issues, and of course the dreaded tire feathering(uneven tire wear). Not every car had it, and it can be greatly minimized with the right alignment and a better than OEM set of tires. My car is an 03 and has/had/maybe still does a little. honestly it's never really bothered me that much. Dont expect the dealer to hand over free tires though.
4) Upkeep? just like most other cars. I wouldnt say it's high maintenance. Also what i like about it is theres a big aftermarket scene for the car. What this means for me(since im stock and plan on staying for a while) Is that when my car needs parts i can go online and find people, who went aftermarket, selling OEM parts for dirt cheap. I could get a new exhaust for almost free, a whole brake setup for about $200, OEM wheels with good tread for $500, front/rear bumpers, suspension, etc etc.
