A&Q about 350Z
Q:
why don't you just wait a few months and buy the kit from nismo?
A:
-The car won't run properly without some sort of device to detect the amount of air coming into the engine so that the air/fuel ratio can be monitored and adjusted by changing injector pulse variables. In other words, you can remove the stock flow meter, but it needs to be replaced with something else that will serve this purpose.
-The stock ECU has either a built-in or separately packaged "PCM", or powertrain control module, which works cooperatively with the ECU to determine shift points and whatnot.
-Nobody makes turbo manifolds just by themselves for the VQ35DE that I am at least aware of. Some companies exist that make custom turbo manifolds and flanges, however. They are quite expensive.
-Keep in mind the Electromotive system is designed for hard-core racing use, not for anything streetable... it is highly unlikely the electromotive system will work (correctly) without a complete revamp of the induction and/or timing system of the vehicle and a lot of electronics work.
The most sensible solution is to wait for more turbo kits to become available if you don't like the Greddy one for some reason if you intend to drive it on the street. If you intend to build a race car, you need someone to do it that already knows all about fuel injection tuning... there is a myriad of considerations you'll need to make such as higher flow fuel pump, bigger injectors possibly, proper boost adjustment, wastegate and blow-off valve selection and tuning, piping for the turbo itself and induction tubing, oil supply hoses, turbo timer... just to name a few! Plus, unless you're just bracket racing, you'd probably want a 6 speed car, not an auto.

A:
would the nismo turbo kit be treated any differently in terms of nissan's warranty coverage?
A:
Umm.... most likely, if a Nismo Turbo Kit came out, they would cleverly market it as an "R-Tune" part, and therefore NOT warrenty it!
A:
agreed, will_k. that's the part that would suck.
so if they really wanted it to sell at all, they'd have to make it extra extra powerful. with more HP and torque than the competitors.

You can tune the car without a MAF, just use a stand alone system, very common in the Honda / Toyota world. The automatic tranny won't hold TT power, I can almost garuantee you that, you might want to rethink using this car or accepting the fact you might have to go to a built auto tranny.

Hey there 350Z gurus:
Thanks a bunch for the info and please keep them coming.
Also, the 350Z is not my car, its from a guy that i don't know, but it's being worked by a friend of mine.
He asked me if i could find some intelligent answers to those questions and so i have. :)
Again thanks, and if you have any other suggestions please write them down.
Take care

Depending on your power goals, the fuel system is going to have be upgraded of course, the injectors and possibly even the fuel pump.

Why go through the extra labor/expense/headaches of a custom turbo application, which in the end, will be limited to the same Hp as the pre-packaged systems by the VQ's internals.

I dont know what would posses somebody to throw all that money in an automatic. Unless of course it was an f1 style automatic.
A:
Just for the record TedDawg, an F1 transmission is a manual transmission shifted via paddles on the steering wheel, which in turn actuate (either pneumatically or hydraulically) the sequential gearbox. It is not an automatic transmission.

Electromotive's TEC systems have, I believe, conversion capabilities to a speed density system, instead of an airflow meter system (MAF). Check with Electromotive for a detailed answer to your question.

The Greddy Kit is capable of up to 500 hp...how much are you wanting to make? I think it would be cheaper top build the engine and add the tt kit for that versus making one from scratch, plus a bit more reliable. That's the route Im going. By the way Iv'e got the forged pistons, rods, and crank in and am working on the cooling system. once thats done In go the tt kit and I'll begin tuning!! I'll keep yall posted.
