On my 2003 350Z
I have what seems to be tire noise from the front, almost a howling sound, 30 to 50 MPH and even more noticeable when braking. Brakes are pretty new.
I bought it used with 11,000 miles the original owner had the original tires replaced and the new alignment done . The car has 25,000 miles on it and the tires look fine. Any suggestions

After many alignments , numerous tires, suspension component changes, springs sways,etc, diferent size tires and brand, the feathering never went away. Its like a bad STD. Its the gift that keeps on giving and giving. I finally found the fix to the tire feathering, I sold the Z!!! Sucks cuz it was my favorite car ever and the most fun to drive just to damn embarrasing when your sports car rides and sounds like your buddies jeep wrangler with 8 inch lift and 36 inch super swamper tires. BEN

I have a 03 350 Z Touring, & I haven't yet bought new tires for the front. I have been satisfied with the way Nissan has handled the situation, until the last time I got my tires replaced, they agreed to replace them, yet again, but after my last set, they said for now on, the cost of the tires I will have to pay for. Which I don't think it's right, due to the fact that the tire alignment issue was a problem before I even bought the car. I think for the life of the car, they should replace the tires. Now I'm having the roaring sound when I apply my brakes, & also when I accelerate at a certin speed. I'm calling Nissan on Mon to see what they plaln to do about this on going problem. I understand tires wear, but it should last for more than 10,000 miles, before replacing. I love my Z & I am awaiting the new 09 to come out in Fall of 08, This is my 3rd Z & I have been very happy with my Z's, but this Z has been a pain in my ass, unlike my other 2 I've had. I am in the class action Law Suit regarding the tire issue, & The attorneys were suppossed to notify me on the issue & I haven't heard anything. I think I'm pissin in the wind! If or when I hear anything re: tire feathering I will post.

I got two sets of front tires and the second was the new design and new alignment specs. After 25k miles they had no cupping but roared like they had cupping. So I just changed them to Goodyear F1 GS d3's in 245-40-18's and they are great. QUIET, smooth and matching my rear gy's.
