The light assemblies are one piece. Depending on where you scratched the plastic, if it affects the lights, you may have to replace the whole assembly. If it's deep enough or big enough to affect the functionality of the lights, then you may not be able to buff it out.
You can open the light assembly to try and repair the damage, but that's pretty intensive. There are posts on how to open the assemblies.
The light assemblies will run you about $700 a piece.

WHERE ARE THESE POSTS THAT YOU SPEAK OF?
A:
350ZMotoring.com has some. I will look through my saved sites.
A warning though! Opening the assembly of the lights involves taking them off the car, removing all wires and bulbs; then baking the assemblies in the oven to soften the silicon seal.
Are both lights damaged? Can you post pics of the damage?

no the aftermarket bulbs were not worth it. i actually scratched the headlights getting them out when they stopped working on me. as for posting the pics, these forums are new to me. i'll need to get a hold of my friend that knows how to do all that stuff. thanks for the advice but i think i'll just live with the scratches untill i win the lotto and can afford to replace the lights. thanks again for your comments.
