cruise control

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

i have an 04 base , they don't come with cruise control.
i understand the throttle is fly by wire, also when the light hits my dash just right i can see on the dash that the cruise light and set light are in my dash,
i wonder:
if they used the same wiring harness as all other models?
this would lead me to the conclusion that if i bought the cruise controls in the steering wheel they would plug right in?
seems like cruise could be accomplished in the ecm with some 1's and 0's?
since the throttle is fly by wire?
any thoughts? anyone wonder the same?

I think this was addressed at 350ZForum.com - try searching there. I think the consensus was that it could not be done but I really don't remember for sure. Good Luck!

The cars I work on used to be wired for every option. For instance, if you wanted the $350 heated seat package, all you really got was a couple switches and a different switch panel cover. The wiring and connectors were just pushed down and covered w/ the "non" heated switch cover.
Now they are pre-wired for each option. I don't know Nissan's philosophy about....do we make one wire harness for all cars for the bulk price or do we make some one way and other's w/ less wire to save that way.
The instrument cluster is going to be the same on all though. Our cars still have the diesel "glow plug" light there when the light hits it just right. Even though Norh America never has had a diesel engine in this car.
Long story short. Get an electrical diagram, compare it to your car and match up the color of the wires. Or kiss your service manager's ****and see if he'll hook you up.
