A&Q about 350Z
Q:
350ZNewbie:
Here are my last alignment specs performed 4/13/04.
They are suppose to conform with the latest TSB that came out last April.
Front Left, Toe
Before: -0.09 degrees, Specified Range is 0.00 to 0.08 degrees
Front Right, Toe
Before: 0.26 degrees, Specified Range 0.00 to 0.08 degrees
Total Front, Toe
Before: 0.17 degrees, Specified Range 0.00 to 0.16 degrees
There were no values filled in for the "Actual" readings. Also a note at the bottom of these specs read:
All of the "before" values are not within specification. Tire wear, handling and safety problems may result.

it's too bad you don't have the actuals. but i will say that either way, you're way out! maybe your dealership shouldn't have the crosseyed guy running the alignment rack.
demand that the actuals be filled in. in my opinion, that's where your problem lies.

Thanks, the readings look lopsided.
Unfortunately (or maybe a good thing) this dealership just changed ownership.
The service department had a B- grade from me. Now, the learning curve starts again,
Cheers, 350ZNewbie.

i took the plunge and found a local shop for all my tire/suspension work. i did it by accident: got a leak in one of the tires. called around town till i found someone who actually worked on Z's. he knew everything about them. when i pulled in, the back of the shop was full of exotics! i knew i was in the right place.
it's worth it if you don't mind some extra $$$. when i had my 911, i was very glad to be friends of the family with the local tire guys. they took care of you. hand torquing - know what i mean?
my Z was way out of whack too. i couldn't attribute it all to driving - smooth roads where i'm at. so i had to attribute it to somehow between assembly line and dealer lot, that car became grossly misaligned.
now with about 4K on a new set of toyo's, with alignment in place (though not the 0-toe exact alignment nissan called for in the recent TSB), i'm not seeing any feathering yet.
seems treadwall design does have something to do with it.

350ZNewbie, thanks for posting your specs.
I have a friend that drives a M3 that agrees with you.
He gave me a recommendation for a tire & wheel place that specializes in exotics and autocross vehicles. He thinks the techs at Nissan are incompetent and they are just throwing tires at us until our warranty is up.
I saw the pictures you posted of your Toyo's and I like them very much. You also posted some great comparsions of tire treads.
I love this car and plan on keeping for quite a while,
Take care,
-Chuck
