The reason is the rear wheel diameter is smaller then the front diameter. In stock form, the rear diameter is larger then the front. The TCS now sees the rear wheel speed as faster then the front. It sees this as a slip.

you definitely want to keep front and rear around the same size.
40 is the lowest i've gone.

When my original Bridgestones are shot, I hoped to put 245/45-18's on both ends. Do any of you know if that might cause the TCS to think it's slipping?

i'm running 275/40/18 rear, 245/40/18 front.
no problems whatsoever.
