Hey Guys, I wanted to get the Michelin Pilot Sports... but $1600.00 for 4 tires + install is a little crazy.... My 2 front ones need to be changed....
Any opinions about Avon Tech M550 A/S??? Was thinking of trying 2 Avon's in the front and see how they are... I've got Falkens in the back not by choice, previous owner had them...
The opinions on Tirerack.com rate those Avon's hirer then the Michelins...
It's about 600 reviews to 600 reviews....
and they are half price of the michelins.......
Any thoughts????

i checked tire rack for these and found them at 200 bucks a piece. they are the all season tires. do they make non-all season that cost twice as much?

I ran the Avons on my S2000 last winter -- drove it in rain, snow, ice, and cold ..... as well as long stretches of dry turnpike. They also are surprisingly grippy in hot/dry situations as well (though not to the performance level of a summer performance tire) I was very impressed with the tire -- especially for the money --- Im planning to put them on the Z when its time to replace existing rubber.

I put them on the front of mine, I was surprised they didn't smell like roses. :)
I think they are great tires for the price, as I have one of the early 2003 models #197, I have the consistent tire roaring, but I've found so far (6 months) that the Avons are holding up much better than most tires, I had the Yokohomas on before these and talk about loud roaring. It's sad when a HUGE 4x4 is scared by the sound of my tires as I pass him....
I'll definitely be purchasing another set of the Avons, since my Z is a daily driver.
