A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I was running 245/40/18 up front and 285/35/18 in the rear UNTIL my traction control started activating on its on at around 70mph. when I would increase my speed it would stop, and when I would lower my speed it would stop, but at 70 mph the car would detect slippage and engage the traction control. Well come to find out that because the front tire was a 40 and the rear tire was a 35, over time the rear tire, already being lower profile and the inability to rotate them, along with the car being rear wheel drive began to wear down much faster than the front. consequently the car began to detect the difference in height and would incorrectly diagnose it as tire slippage causing the traction control to continuously engage. It was a hassle. Sorry that was so long winded, but I said all that to say that if you go with larger tires, make sure the tire wall is the same size front and rear.
A:
The diameter of the rear wheels must be larger than the diameter of the front wheels in order for TCS to function properly. The TCS calculates the speed of the rear wheels and compares it to the speed of the front wheels. If TCS determines that the speed of the rear wheels is faster than the front wheels TCS thinks you have lost traction and kicks-in.

Gotcha!! I appreciate your post. Thanks
Yesterday after posting a bunch of questions about this issue on every Z forum out there, I got pretty much the same response "go with the 35 all the way around" so i call the shop up and switched the order. The dude there was hasseling me still trying to convience me to go with the 30s in the rear and 35 front. somtimes they dont know everything those so called "wheel experts". He was laughin when i told him where I got my info from and I told him forums, I said listen I posted several posts about this and if i got maybe 50/50 response then i would have went with it ... but every response was negative about the 30 in the rear.. so why would i do it. They dont realize the power of forums!!! Anyway Ill be much happier with the 35s they're alittle beefier but i wount have as many problems, plus the rear wont look smaller then the front .. I hate that and he said it wouldn't look bigger because of the stag fitment it will be the same height. I dont think so buddy...
Thanks agian bro

The tire and wheel guys know about tires and wheels. When it comes to other functions of a vehicle being affected, I've noticed very few know what they are talking about.
