Tire replacement notice

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I just heard that Nissan is sending letters to 350Z owners about replacing tires for vehicles with less than 21,000 miles.
I may be true or it may not be, but have any of you received or heard of these letters yet?
If so, what does yours say?
I appreciate you sharing it with us.

I just got one yesterday... I'll have to go home tonight and re-read it. It says something about pro-rating the cost of the tires after a certain mileage.
Are you on your first set of tires at 19,058? Any loud road noise? If not, you may not qualify.
A:

I'm still on my original tires.
I did have the tire feathering and the dealer did the alignment/toe adjustment at 11,000 miles, which was covered under warranty.
Hopefully, my car will still qualify.
I know the Manager at the Nissan where I bought the car and I'm a repeat customer (Previously owned 1998 Max SE). He's cool so I hope he'll honor the replacement.

I received my notice the other day. Basically, if the tires were slightly feathered the dealer would rotate the tires. If the wear was really bad they would replace them. Does not really sound like a resolution rather quick fix.,
A:

I recieved my letter a couple of weeks ago. At around 17k miles I had the alignment/toe adjust. I was up to about 24k miles but I still took it to the dealer.
The dealer pro/rated the tires at 90% so I had to pay about 65 bucks to get 2 new front tires.
Not a bad deal. Sometimes being nice to the dealer pays its dividends
A:

yikes welcome to about 6 weeks ago guys...lol yes it most certainly true you can find what the letter says in the tsb online at the nissan website or with a little searching.
A:

Thanks for the heads up.
I searched didn't find anything, maybe I wasn't using the correct keywords.
Oh well. I hope I can get my tires replaced at no charge.
We'll see.

The determination is made by the dealer. First they align, then swap side to side if the wear is not significant. My Z was delivered in August of "02 and I only have 7,000 miles. but the tires are now very noisy. Apparently they will replace.
A:

Moderators run amok about Z criticism. Delete. Delete. Delete. It is a front tire eating nightmare.
A:

Recieved my letter in the mail yesterday 6-10-04.

Received my letter last week, and taking the car in this Friday. I'm hoping for new tires, I don't want to deal with the bullshit of rotating tires first.
Make sure you document any troubles you have with getting this situation resolved..take photos of your tires....if (god forbid a million times) you should have an accident that can be attributed to the condition of your tires, you'll want to sue the hell outta Nissan. They deserve nothing less for the way they have handled this problem.
