A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I currently have an auto 01 V6 Mustang........ok.....ummm....you can stop laughing now :P Anyways, lol. I'm pretty sure I want a Z as my next car. I "need" an automatic (personal preferance :P) Domestic guys are telling me to get a Mach 1 or an auto Vette. I'm not an import vs domestic kinda guy so I'm on the fence post here. What do you guys think? Go for the auto Z?

Have to say new Mustang for 05 looks sweat, but being a Ford it will be loaded with problems for first 2 years. The Z is pretty bullitproof now.

Mustang? Definately not. Even the Saleens and Roushes are getting WAY too popular. The reason I hate Mustangs is because you can blow $65,000 on a Stage XXVII Saleen, but you're still gonna have the same body style (your car looks exactly the same) as the $7500 hunka junk that Juan Pablo putts to work in each morning.
The Corvette is a good car, as is the 350Z. I think it boils down to personal preference here.

Ya, I love the 05 mustangs, but I couldn't afford a 05GT :/ And I'm so not getting an 05 V6.
Most definatly. I've only seen 3 Zs where I live since they came out. I've owned 2 mustangs already, and can run to McDonalds down the street and see 4 mustangs on the way there and back. I'm really wanting something more rare for where I live, something where an average joe or jane will be like, wow, what is that? I think the Z fits that pretty well. And I know it will be way more fun to drive than my current car LOL. I'm also looking at the BMW Z4, not sure if I want to pay insurance a convertible BMW though.

Heck yeah man, I can count on both hands every 300ZX I've seen in my lifetime, and I remember every one. Some say I'm sheltered - I say my car is rare for my area.
I just got back from a trip overseas (in Germany) and the Z4 was almost a poseur car. The cars there were AMAZING. In Munich, if you weren't rolling an S500 or SL 55 AMG, you weren't reputable. Z8's almost got boring to look at because if you kept walking down the road you'd be sure to see another GT2 or 360 Modena. Cool stuff.

Holy crap, well, we know where the high rollers are, lol. Yeah, now that you mention it, the 300zxs are rare too. I had a friend who had one, but other than that, I don't see too many of those either. I didn't know the Z had that heritage that it does until I started researching it. They've been pretty cool cars. Thats what I like about the mustangs too. Say, compared to a Dodge SRT-4. Sure, it may be fast...but its still a Neon. Muhahaha

Exactly man. I got my beaten by a riced out Neon a few weeks back, but barely (my NA is BONE STOCK!) and when I went to the dragstrip that weekend he was on slicks running 13's. I was torn up until I saw that, then I was quite proud. But I agree, no Neon should ever be thought of as cool.

Oh cool, just took a look at your ZX, I didn't know what the 90 body style looked like looks just as cool as the latter models. It'll be really sweet once ya start moddin it. My brother has a 94 GSR thats got all the bolt ons and such. Its pretty quick. Hopefully a 350Z will be quicker than it though. Otherwise I might get a lil upset. He would never let me live that down lol.

Thanks. His GSR stands a good chance, you'd better watch out. If you want mad speed, get a modified twin turbo, maybe a Supra. I know you want something fresh and new though. 350Z and Vette are your best bets.

I'm pretty certian I want a 350Z now. Got to looking up turbo and superchargers for it. Heck, even with non warrenty voiding boltons 300+ hp looks posible.. I'd be pretty happy with a 300 hp NA v6 lol.

A friend just got his new Pontiac GTO. I got a chance to drive it over the weekend and I'm really impressed.. The car handles great and has tons of power.. He only has about 700 miles on it so we can't see what it can really do yet but it sure runs great..

I'm not hating on your friend or you, so I hope this doesn't come across like that. However, I hate the new GTO with a passion. Look at the resemblance between it and a Saturn. It's vile. They took a legend and made it... normal. A lot of car makers are starting to do this.

Ya, I bet the GTOs are pretty crazy. Glad to see Pontiac bring it back. Only seen one of those around here, they're rather expensive. :/

Yeah, they don't quite look like the name GTO belongs to it. But back in the day, if ya look at some of the pontiacs that were out when the GTO was out (well some years anyways) theres a design theme to most of the cars and the GTO kinda fits that. I think Pontiac wanted to make the GTO look like a pontiac rather than like a GTO. My 2 cents on it are if its gonna be a GTO, there should be some ques from the GTO of the past that appear in it.

they didnt make the GTO look like a pontiac or a GTO they made it look like a holden Monaro which is what it is. they are affiliated but it was originally an australian car the monaro made by the holden company and other than the pontiac grille and a little revisions looks pretty much the same as the monaro. its definitly overpriced and the styling is terribly bland. they defietly are selling slow too. With that said they are pretty good performers or so ive heard.it surely isnt picking up where the original gto left off.

I think GTO is more oriented towards mustang cobra.
Cobra has more power,
GTO is more civilize. If I have to guess, GTO will have a better lap time than Cobra, but still slower than EVO Viii or STi. (dry or wet).
350z could be worst or better than them on the track (lap time).

I think it's in the latest Road & Track magazine which they compare the GTO to a Mustang SVT Cobra. Despite having something like 140 less horses, the GTO still beat it in most areas. A sad day for Ford when that peice whoops up on your prized possesion (minus the new GT).

As far as the GTO's design. It's kind of weak. They should have left the Monaro front end on. The US-spec front end looks boring.

Anyway, now when you say Vette. Do you mean C5 or C6? Either one, they're both nice cars. I also like the 05 Mustang GT. What do you mean you can't afford the 05 GT? The GT and the 350Z start at roughly the same price.

Bob Lutz is trying to bring back some sparkle to GM, I guess he'll get some kudos for trying but the GTO lacks the inspiration of the old 60's muscle car. A couple of buddies went to a GM Ride and Drive out in Pomona, Ca and said that the car did'nt have the expected kick, I figure the Solstice shoud be a lot more fun to drive and more bang for your buck when it goes on sale.

Go for Z, or if for some reasons you suddenly fall in love with vette or stang, that's good too, but just now I found something else, a 450 HP family 4 door sedan good for winter ride.
