A:

The extended interval for oil changes is 7500 miles to keep the engine and related components under the warranty. You have to keep this in mind if you want to keep warranty. If you use the extreme condition interval you need to change the oil at 3000 miles. It is up to you on the change interval. But, wor warranty... Now, after that you can do what you want. I have heard of the long intervals you discuss but wait until the warranty runs out
A:

Because I live in So. Cal. where stop and go traffic is more stop than go...
I change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles. When my warranty is up I might go to every other 5,000 miles.
I let the dealer use what ever they want.

How is the royal purple? Does the car feel any faster to you? Supposedly that oil is supposed to give on average a 10hp increase due to lower internal engine friction. I've thought about trying it but if it did give me more pep I would want to do it all the time and at the price per quart an oil change would get really expensive compared to what I use now. Let us know how that stuff works out for you.
