damn gas door release button

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

So stopping yesterday to put gas in my car...while pressing the gas button the dam thing came out of its slot and fell thru towards the engine of the car . I immedialtly started laughing...what can I do. So I called the dealership..and its all under warranty. I just hate for the nissan grease monkey's to touch my car, but i dont have the tools to do this+if they break it they can fix it. Anyone else had this problem?...drew

Never a prob with the button but the door wouldnt fully open one day...felt like I almost broke it to get it to open all the way.

Simply reached under the dash and worked it gently back into the opening until it locked into place. Learned not to push so hard.

damn button also has a mind of its own, it only feels like opening that freakin door when it feels like it... i can sit there hit the button about 20 tims while i am at the pump, wont upon and after total frustration i go home park it in the garage and it pops open...go figure... this has happened more than once... less frequently now

yo, hulk, switch back to dr. david!
i probably would have started laughing too. sounds like a cabling problem.

Interesting..mine fell out too. Stopped by dealer and they popped it back in for me. Have since tried not to push it too hard and no further problems.

First time I filled mine up I pushed it through. Dealer fixed it at first oil change and reminded me it takes only a slight touch to release. Of course they did not mention that it does not ALWAYS release!

yea instead of taking it to nissan i decided to do it my self. The button was so far back in there i couldnt get to it. So i took off the plastic panel, and finally got to it. Took all of 20 minutes, better for me to do it that way, than let the nissan monkeys play with my car....drew

I feel the same way about the techs: wait for somnething major before I let them crawl around and over my car. No matter how careful they are (or, usually, aren't) there's going to be some new mark, scratch, grease blot, etc whenever it gets in their hands.
