Odds are its the battery. Don't think it is the immobilizer as that would still allow the car to turn over - it just won't start. (don't ask me how I know this, was kinda embarrasing)

Replaced the battery on my 03 last weekend...

Ok, it was, much to my embaressment, the battery. Am a bit annoyed as the had just had it's full 25k mile service and they were supposed to have checked out the battery health. Anyway am going to buy a new one today but thanks all for the help.
