A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Well, just called nissan on further assestments and the insurance company. The insurance company is going to call me back tomorrow to discuss the outcome of the damages, they will cover it though, so thats a relief.
The dealership said that the total bill will come out to just below $10,000, about $6500 for the engine alone. Not sure yet on the other damage that was done, will ask them more details on that tomorrow. One thing he did say was to make sure I mention something about he depreciated value because of the damage claim that will be added onto the title for damages over $7,000. He said that its not something they will normally volunteer but if you say something they should do something for you.
I would appreciate any advice anyone has one what I should know going into talking to my insurance agent tomorrow.
Its a 2003 350z Touring Chrome Silver Aero Package - after tax and title $35,000. Pre-ordered in May 2002.
Thanks for all your concern and help.
Joe

I have not heard of notations on titles for X amount of physical damage to a car, but I haven't lived in all 50 states.
Insurance is designed to put your car back on the road in the condition it was before an "incident." There's usually no provision for making it worth what it might have been beforehand. You can imagine, I hope, how difficult that would be to determine after a car has already been damaged.
Unless there are state-specific laws regarding "loss of future value" where you live, I'd guess you should be working with your adjuster to get everything fixed so your car is like you remember it.
I'd be interested in what you find out. Please post updates.

A car with water damage has a tendency to rust from the inside out and the electrical will give you problems down the road. Thus, the title is noted that there was water damage and the value of the car will be substantially less than one that has not experienced water damage. So, if the car is going to get the title marked I would be pitching a fit for a new car or they should buy the car off you for the previously stated value so you can go get yourself a car that has no water damage...

Unless you have collector car insurance, there is likely no stated value on an auto policy.
