A&Q about 350Z
Q:
<<Now the insurance company is looking into if I'm even covered for this sort of thing.>>
Translation: They're trying to figure out a way to "legitimately" screw you.
Can you have a lawyer look over your policy? Good luck, I'm rooting for you.
A:
Damn, so sorry to hear that. Hope the insurance covers it. Good luck.
A:
Man I feel for you. That is some rotten luck.

I'm very sorry about that. I can imagine how painfull that can be. hang in there I'm sure things would turn out fine for you. I'm sure state farm would cover it, I'm insured with them too for last 20 years and they have never screwed me on anything. keep us informed. good luck

Just an FYI for my fellow State Farm folks. My agent emailed me to inform me that the rating group for the 350Z has gone up. Nothing huge, but she said I would notice a slight increase in my 6 month premium.

If the insurance doesn't cover it, the first thing that I would do is have it towed to a reputable local mechanic. $10,000 sounds like a rip off to me. Did the dealership do a tear down on the engine? Did they show you the damage? Even though the engine wouldn't start after it stalled, could you still crank it? Bent rods sounds a little suspicious to me. I could see cracked heads from the water splashed onto the engine, but unless it was entirely submerged, I don't buy their story. I would have the local mechanic perform the tear down and replace only those parts that were truly damaged.

concurring with Motion, I can see bent valves but rods?? i'd be surprised. regardless, best of luck to you man.
