Came home this evening and the City Road Dept has graciously sprayed black, goopy sealant on the street leading to my house. No way around it, so down I go to 5 mph, trying to find the barer areas to keep that crap off my car.
Oh well, it's either this black crap that serves as "repaving" around here or it's the toss-loose-asphalt-out-and-let-the-locals'-cars-tamp-it-down-for-three-weeks method.
My tax dollars at work.

usually road work is done by private companies (the lowest bidder) so profits do matter, but i'm not sure how much the government takes into account quality of work.

Well, here in Nashville, a construction company working on I-65 north was fined by the state government for taking too long to finish construction...something like $10,000 a day for every day they worked beyond their deadline (which had already been extended twice). At least they show some concern, right?

I drove through that stuff in my honda before. got to use bug and tar remover to get off. becareful not to scratch your car by rubbing to hard with dirt particles on it.
A:

do you have any local topography that can assist you in avoiding the tar?
