350Z tires

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I just got my Z a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not too sure what to think about all of the tire talk. Can anyone fill me in as to what the deal is with the '03 Z's? Should I take it in to the dealer and have them make any adjustments? It was just in for its 15k service, in which an alignment was done. I've owned a few different sports cars in the past that road on 18" preformace tires, and found that they all seemed to wear rather quickly, provided harsh rides, and were loud at tires (depending on the road surface). So far, the Z seems pretty smooth and quiet compared to my past experiences.

well you would probably know if you have feathering, the noise when braking form 30mph is pretty loud. but you can check by running your hand over the inside tread block. if it feels real smooth going one way and rough(like your hands catching on the treads) the other way youve got it. but if youve got time just to be safe you may want to take it in and tell them to make sure your alignment is correct per the new tsb. or just tell them you think its kinda loud when your braking and you want the alignment checked/adjusted.

Nissan has a service Bulletin on all 2003 350Z's. The warranty for front wheel alignment has been extended to 24 month from the original in service date with no mileage limit. Go to Sport Z Magazine and you can download the whole bulletin...it's about 21 pages. It's dated 4/12/04 Good Luck!
