The FATT event (Friday At The Track) at Summit Point Raceway in West
Virginia is an all day driver training course run by BRS Driving School. It is very affordable at $195 per day. It includes four 20 minute sessions on the 10 turn road course with an instructor in your car giving you much needed advice. Also driver classroom meetings before and after driving sessions. They also allow you to use their old saggy suspension Chevys to test your skills on the Skid Pad which is a water slicked asphalt donut about 100 yards in diameter to test your understeer and oversteer skills. It is an absolute blast. I have gotten my 350Z up to 125 mph in the straight away, the real fun is in getting the proper line in the turns however. It is more fun than you should be allowed to have legally. But be forewarned, I've been there for two FATTs and at both events somebody trashed their car. Last time a 929 Porsche bought it into the wall. Thats no fun at all. So it's kind of like gambling, if you can't afford to loss it, don't bet.

I've also run at the FATT at Summit Point and it was a lot of fun. A Shelby Cobra Roadster flipped the day I was there, but if you take it easy and race within your limits it can be fairly safe and a lot of fun. It is quite a bit more expensive than a night at the dragstrip, but a heck of a lot more fun (at least in a car like the Z) and it is a great learning experience.
