A&Q about 350Z

Well someone finally hit my Z in the parking lot. Backed into it on a down-slope and pushed it into a pole. $3k damage.
On the plus side: I no longer have to pay to get the front bumper clearcoat redone.
On the minus side: God dammit. Rental car for the next week is a compact.
You'd think people would be more careful around a car that looks like it cost so much.

I almost wish sometimes for minor damage to my front bumper so I can get it repainted. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many f##%@!$% chips.

So are you saying since your car looks soo expensive that people shouldn't park near it? Since when is a car a status symbol? It's a Nissan for god's sake. Drive a Bently, then gripe about people hitting your car. Get over your woes. People never do care, so for you to think that they will isn't very smart of you. I have 2 brand new cars, and I make sure I don't park them anywhere near someplace where someone will bump it.

HAHA! I try to be careful around other cars because I don't want to mess MY car up, I could give a rats a$$ about anyone elses car no matter how much or how little it cost THEM.
ATTENTION 350Z OWNERS!!: PAINT WILL ALWAYS CHIP ON THE FRONT BUMPER OF A CAR UNLESS THE CAR IS NEVER DRIVEN. IT'S A FACT OF LIFE. NISSAN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SMALL ROCKS, DIRT AND DEBRIS THAT YOU DRIVE THOUGH.

szlash: There was a TSB for a problem with the clearcoat which is what people here are referring too. Of course the paint on the front bumper will chip over time. However the paint on the 350z is known to chip excessively.

what is excessive to you?
if you are driving around and a 3" square of paint flakes off, I would call that excessive. but driving around for a couple thousand miles and having a lot of little chips is NOT excessive. paint is not as hard as a little stone impacting at 60+MPH, what do you think is going to happen?

Funny Story: I parked in a lot at a golf club far into the lot, diagonally, but at least a football field from anyone else. After my round, I come out to a car parked RIGHT NEXT TO ME, also diagonally (sigh). No other cars even near us. After checking that I had no dings, I get in my car, and notice a slip of paper under my wiper. It read:
"If you have to park your car this way, you can't afford to have it".
I then took the paper, turned it over, and after writing this, put it under HIS wiper:
"It's not that I can't afford to have it - it's that YOU can't afford to HIT it".

anyone knows the cost of the clear bra that i hear so much about. I've had my z for almost a month and i have tiny chips on my front bumper already. Thanks.

I paid about 950 for my clearbra installed--included the entire front end, mirrors, splash guards, & panels under the doors. Considered putting it on myself, but after doing some research decided not to. I'm glad I didn't. It took the guy 7 hours to install, but he did a perfect job.
