A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hello guys,
I drove a 350Z (Track model) for the first time Saturday. I had it to myself for about 35min.
I was impressed by the handling, tightness, precision and solid feel in the steering. This is definately a car I like.
However the first and second gear felt eccessively rough. I notice quite a bit of engine vibration while pushing 1st gear (even below 5000rpm). Is that normal or was it the car I was driving?
Also it felt like the rear axle was bouncing too much when I was trying to burn rubber. It didn't have that linear flow.
It was almost unpleasant in lower gear. The feel was what I would expect from a muscle car (Mustang...) but not a Z.
My 95 (even with the high mileage) still felt much smoother.
What do you guys think?

Did you turn off VDC/TCS while trying to peel out? That may explain the "bouncing" you described.

maybe its just me too, but i have had an 04 since november 03 and i have brought in my 350z into the dealership twice because i thought it was shifting to roughly. i notice the most roughness between 1st and 2nd but they just told me its fine and it drives like a z, infact i am new here and just joined the forum to find out about this very problem. so someone who has been here longer than i and if this subject has already been answered in another post, please point me to the right direction.

You are right I should have probably turned off the TCS.
But how about the roughness in 1st and 2nd gears?

By rough I mean lots of vibration and noise from the engine transferred into the passenger compartment.
I feel it only in 1st and 2nd, when accelerating. It was kind of an indication that the car will not be so pleasant to drive in city.
Don't get me wrong, I like it. This was probably just the only drawback.
