A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I have had a clicking noise coming from the rear end of my car for a while now. I've taken it to the dealership several times.
The time before last, they did the fix solution of torqueing the rear and it stopped for a while. After about 2000 miles, it started again. I took it back to the dealer and they called fox again. Fix said they never had one start doing it again and said it must be normal!
Dealer said there was nothing they could do. I called my girl at the 800 # and she said that because Nissan engineers said it was normal there was nothing she could do.
Has anyone else had the problem come back?
Anyone able to tell my dealer what to do? (don't seem the brightest)
Thanks for any honest posts.

I read in a Magazine Car and driver about a 350z that had noise coming from the rear of the car. They found the rear brake backing plates to be loose. Seems strange since I thought this car had rear disc brakes. Maybe check the rear brakes out real close.

you need them to put those "chasis ears" on the car and try it out. not sure if that's an actual device, or some guy in the service department with really good hearing.

I had a 77 Trans Am that developed that problem when new. Turns out, factory used to wrong gear lube. It was replaced and everthing was fine. I would not want it to be "normal" and I think they are just making excuses.

280ZXFan, that's exactly how i've described it. i thought of it as an "emergency retract" based on something with the parking brake being set. however, i do realize that my driveway is on a very slight incline. very very slight, but enough that if you shift to neutral and remove the parking brake, you will drift backwards.
i'm thinking that i set the parking brake with the main brakes depressed. everything is very nice and hot in there too from the drive home. the e-brake sets, and then slightly "adheres" the pad to the disc and it cools down that way. the braking system senses this stickiness when you start moving, and does an "emergendy retract" to get things separated.
