Nissan quality plummets in survey

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

one thing i will say is that cars from the 60's and 70's definitely have problems in the mpg and emissions areas. most of those cars are hundreds of pounds lighter without all those mandated, non-optional controls, and can go faster if you don't mind 8 gallons to the mile.

Imagine if Nissan had put out a car with the options and characteristics of a 60's vehicle.
This forum would be worse then it is now :o

I read the USA Today article and noticed that Lexus, Acura, and Porsche also dropped in the rankings. I can't really carp about my 2003 Track Model although the paint job is cheap, but that is attributed more to the water-base paints mandated by EPA which Nissan can't control. There are some other areas I notice a cheapening of quality such as the interior, but considering the price, and comparison to other vehicles in the price range, I am relatively satisfied. I know owners of more expensive makes that have a plethora of quality issues they complain about. Of course, some years ago Nissan insisted that all of its suplliers reduce their costs which in all probability resulted in them passing it along at the expense of quality. But Nissan is not alone in that area. While Nissan definitely needs to improve quality, so do other brands in the same and higher price range. The biggest culprit is the cost-cutting mania raging in the corporate world which has resulted in lack of control control at the front end (just look at the computer industry) and outsourcing to maximize profits for the top brass and share holders. Regardless, I do not discredit the legitimacy of complaints on this post and hopefully Nissan will make good on them and improve in the future.
