A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Guys,
In the past I would change my oil, but the current place I am living makes it hard. Just curious, how much an oil change would cost from Nissan Dealer. I live in the los angeles area.
Thanks,
Tony
A:
It should be no more than $25-$27
A:
The first one done at 3000 miles?
Thanks,
Tony
A:
it cost me $25 for up to 5qts and 12 pt inspection . this includes tax already.
A:
why nissan dealer, i like wal-mart. Cheaper, and they do so much more. They even vacuum the car for you.

From a service history aspect its always a good thing to have a Nissan dealer do your oil change, that way they document your oil changes and Nissan NA warranty doesn’t have an excuse to weasel out of any powertrain warranty repair that may occur. Trust me guys I work for a car company here in California and the warranty dept. sits on the other side of my cubicle, any loop holes available to try and get out of a costly customer warranty repair will be exercised and yes that would include not enough oil changes at regular intervals.
A:
well//My wife's a walmart employee...but I guess thats a reasonable exception

tntrac,
Take your Z to Performance Nissan. Lots of satisfied customer/members from the my350z.com forum take their Zs there. I will most likely go there too for my service.

If I had a 13 year old car, I would let Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Pep Boys even the corner gas station change my oil.
However, people that own a warranated 350Z's do not want JUST anyone with a wrench in their hands to service their cars.

Need a good set of ramps so I can change my own oil in my 350Z. Have any of you guys/gals had trouble finding ramps low enough (or should I say a shallow enough angle of inclne?) to run the 350Z up on without scraping on the way? I have some pretty low ramps that worked great with some other low slung cars I've had. But I have the aero package with the front spoiler and it seems that front spoiler will just barely scrape before the car starts going up the ramp. Hate to start removing spoiler every time I want to change oil if I can get the right ramps and avoid it. I bet if my ramps were three quarters of an inch lower, everything would be cool, but alas. I have not lowered the car any. Any of you guys know what/where I can get ramps that work great? Thanks.
A:
make your own ramps or just use a jack and jack stands

i use 3 short 2x6's nailed together in a 'step' like formation. Works perfect....about an inch clearance with the front bumber.

Those knocking Walmart they do a good job and 9 times outta ten the guys changing your oil at th edealership has worked at Walmart as well. Most dealerships have kids that just do oil changes. I have had my 350 and our 03 Max oil changed their no problems for 15.88. I usually just stand out their and watch them, my Walmart the guys take care because of cars because the customers are always watching.

Before you take your car to walmart for an oil change read this!! About a year ago I took my 6 week old tahoe in for its first oil change. I went back two hours later, and when I walked up to it I saw that the front was parked about a foot into the next spot and the back was right on the line. It was obvious someone parked it with no concern for caring for my new $35+ car. It immediately noticed two dents - one in the drivers door and one in the rear door. I know it didn't have them prior to going to walmart because I had washed and hand dried it the night before then parked in the garage. Long story short. Walmart said that the car was videod the whole time it was there, so they could see if anything happened. They then said that the tape actually didn't exist, then they said it did, but I couldn't see it...In the end it was basically your screwed. I learned a lesson; if you like your car pay a few dollars more and protect your car.

Thanks for the info on oil change ramps explortainment and DaddyPhatSaks. The 2x6's sound both practical and economical for a ramp. A real "customized" setup, ha.
