i didn't exactly have that problem... i had the clutch rattle... that i managed to get the dealer tech to hear after a test drive... so they replaced my tranny at 41K i also have the extended warranty...
for once in my life it was worth spending the extra money for a warranty

Seems like the '03 350z have a lot of problem with them, I'm shopping for
a 350z right now, should I avoid a '03 one? The problems that I am aware of are the fuel hose and engine sensor recall. So are there more common problems that I should be aware of?

Sometimes it is the price you have to pay for a first year vehicle. However, everything so far has been covered free of charge. The trans started to grab only recently after 31k miles. My tires were replaced free up front and have never given me any problems. I now have 17K miles on the new ones.That's it. If you buy an 03 make sure you get the service records and see if all the corrections have been taken care of. Test drive it too and work the trans.

When i first went to the dealer to get my tranny looked at the ser. advisor said that they compared to a similar vehicle with similar mileage and found it to be normal... then the new ser. advisor that i talked to said that we should replace it... good thing too... he said the total cost of the tranny is $2600... so i'm glad i don't have to pay that... next i have to make time to get my driver side recline motor replaced... $400... my seat will not recline right now...
i have an '03 but i'm not having alot of the problem some of the other '03 owners are speaking of...
