I bought my 03 used, and it had rims, etc. Im guessing the last owner had a custom system in it. Well about 2 days ago from outside the car I noticed that the dash (the piece with the radio in it) isnt all the way to the surrounding dash. This was only seen from a front view outside the car. Is this just Nissan crappy work? I can see tabs where its supposed to "connect" but I push it all the way back in to no avail. This is only at the top of the piece, the rest looks like it fits. I pulled it up but see no places for maybe lost screws.

Who's actually to blame here? Hmmmm, let's go for the usual Evil Nissan angle. That always works.

Hey, the previous owner did some custom install, as you have mentioned. So why is it Nissan's fault? Take it apart and see what the problem is.

I didnt say this was nissans fault, just asking if its a possibility. Im not sure if the previous owner had a system. I wondered if anyone else had this problem.

Top of the dash clips in. Push it back into place. If the clip is damaged the push will not work and you will have to take the center out and reinstall.
