A&Q about 350Z
Q:
2004 350's are suppose to be Satellite-Ready. While I know some pre-wiring is done, I don't understand what gets installed after you decide you want it...a receiver for the signal?? and where does that go?
Then how about the actual radio in the dash.. does that remain and info is displayed on the stock radio?? (I doubt it) Does a new radio faceplate get added on? How about the antenna?..I heard some people actually mount it on or under the strut brace in the back. Yes?No? I know its fairly small. How about cost for tuners/antennas, install etc. Any and all info is appreciated.
Also..let me know which service you have (if any).. XM or Sirrius. Any positive or negative comments will help me decide. Thanks

The hardware is not cheap, several hundred $$s worth for the tuner and antenna. If you look at the factory install pics on courtesy's site, they (a dealer) are going to put the antenna on the hood, looks hideous. You'd have to DIY to mount it on the rear strut.
My only experience listening to it was in a rental car... you had to wait about 3 sec to change a channel. Imagine trying to channel surf through that? Not sure if other tuners are faster, but that wait on each channel was intolerable.
If you care about the quality of the music:
Don't get a tuner that just plays through your existing car stereo on some preset FM channel. The bandwidth of an FM channel cannot support CD sampling rates, even if the signal is perfectly clean from the close range transmitter.
