A&Q about 350Z
Q:
any thoughts or experience with ultra light pulley install? Logic seems to dictate there's something to a lighter rotational mass idea. Have also read comments that these may interfer with factory harmonic balancer.
thanks.

A:
I dont think it would interfere with the balancer. It increases power by letting it rev quicker, allowing shorter time to get in the powerband and shorter shifting times, adding up to a reletavely quicker ride. Not experienced with the new z, but was great on my cavalier and my old z, although with a 6 speed Im goin through the gears pretty quick anyways. But, it couldnt hurt to be a little quicker ;)
A:
i would just go with the underdrive crank pully. It does not have a harmonic balancer, I had one on my 300zx for 18k miles and it was fine. The other pullies are a waste of money IMO. The pully allows the engine to rev faster, and the pully is MUCH lighter than the stock. I think it adds 3.7 hp per pund you loose. Go check on www.stillen.com I would not get anything but unorthadox racing, i made the mistake by getting a geniric one. It was a Bitch to put on the crank shaft.

thats why u guys are retarded and lose to the S2000 everytime when u race.. ur crappy v6 engine cant keep up with our vtec inline 4.. u guys are retarded..

...and then you wake up...
If nissan wanted to the could put out a 300hp+ 350z. That would probably hand even the NSX its arse.
God knows they have a VQ35DE race prepped at 450hp naturally aspirated and Japan is getting a 296hp Z now.
Honda just put out a twin turbo V6 nsx in the GT500 class in the JGTC and it is no competition for the GT500 350Z and Toyota's Naturally aspirated V8 Supra.
Here is the official JGTC website with round 1 results with the 350Z's on top and Honda scraping the bottom with the twin turbo NSX. Best lap time by a 350Z again oh man too easy.

It would always be Nissan vs Toyota. Honda just does not cut it in the race world.
with that said I would not agree with the Honda and racing in special olympics.
Nissan Just has a better race history than Honda can't hope to compare with at present.

Look, I am sick of you Z guys always going on about your cars. Bottom line is 350Z= Fat, Ugly, Heavy, and Slow. S2000= Slim, Pretty, Light, Quick. I have owned 2 TT Z's (90-92), Yeah, I should have learned my lesson the first time I know. I have never owned such a problematic car in my life. Gorgeous they sure are but reliable, NEVER.... They don't handle worth a crap and yes I have driven a 350Z and it is lethargic to say the least. the cars feels well LAZY. The S2000 is nimble and certainly one of the most pure sports cars one can buy. It also seems Nissan can't give the cars away. I see Nissan lots all over the country loaded down with the cars. Don't get me wrong I do think the Z is a sportscar yes but not raw and edgy like the S. It feels slow in comparison. Good luck with those mass produced bubble shaped lumps of metal. You will need it as you will be getting smoked on streets all over the US. Nissan should have brougth the real deal to the states, The GT-R, instead of the second class citizen, the zzzzzzz......
A:
numbers dont lie...thats all i gotta say. maybe you should recheck yours...lol
A:
its not even the point on how it looks.. 9 out of 10 times.. the S WILL pull on a 350z.. if ur comparing on mods.. then its much differ.. i thought we r comparing stock vs stock.. i could say.. oh.. add a comptech s/c with nos.. will get me a 10 sec car.. u cant compare things like that..
stock vs stock.. S will walk on Z.. anyday.. its a proven fact..
A:
im talking stock for stock... like i said before you may want to recheck your numbers
2004 s2000... ill give you the benefit of the doubt with the 2004 still C&D ran a stock s2k 0-60 5.4 and the quarter in 14.1. the Z can run those numbers on the track as well. C&D got the same numbers for the Z. not too mention i could go find some track slips from another forum of stock Z's running high 13's easy.... its a proven fact... who the hell are you anyways, you troll. go back to the honda forums and stop wasting our time.

Ahh, but now you've finally learned about Honda's dominating superbikes and awesome Formula One's, haven't you? Before this enlightenment, you probably had never heard of Formula One or of Honda motorcycles at all. You didn't know Honda even made motorcycles, did ya? You always thought those CBRs were Nissan bikes, huh? Hahaha...Nissan bikes! Hahaha...This coming summer, I'm going to buy a new Honda Dune. Go check it out! It's awesome, and only for a mere $28K.

No don't go trade it in for an S2k. I think you might have some negative equity unless you put huge cash down or paid cash. RESALE VALUE. Chock another one up for the s2k.
A:
hahaaa... believe me i know about hondas bikes but were talking cars arent we. My bestfriend used to race for Repsol Honda in the AMA, I know all about the CBR's.
A:
I have been to AutoX a few times and I think it is pretty well accepted that s2ks outclass the Z there. Yes, the s2k drives like a go-kart. Too bad it looks like one too.
It's so tiny and cute. Does that fancy engine run on gasoline or double-A's?
A:
actually at an autocross the z would do better. You have to keep the s2000 in a much higher rev range to make usable power, which there isnt much of, only after about 600 to 800 rpm's versus the great low end power of the z, perfect for autocross. You couldnt keep the s2 in its power range often enough to compete with a z.
..But I do agree we should have the gtr..I love the z and all...but its no skyline.

So how did you Nissan morons like the latest Formula One Grand Prix result at Imola, Italy? BAR Honda got 2nd place, behind Schumacher in a Ferrari, but the Honda beats all the others including other Ferrari.
You tried to compare Nissan's racing heritage to Honda's. How dare you? Even the supergiant Toyota can't even match Honda's. If you looked back at Honda's history, it began with RACING, not automaking. It's been very successful with every racing category it's ever been in (autos or bikes) since its existence in the 50's.
You morons should recognize good, quality products when you see one. Eventually in the future, only Toyota and Honda will remain, as all others will die out from making crappy products. Nissan almost did, but Renault bailed them out. But it's not going to last forever. Eventually, GM, Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsu, VW, etc. will keep going down and down until they can't justify their existence anymore. Toyota and Honda have steadily kept climbing the ladders since their existence, and they will continue to do so until they take over the world. ;-)
God, this forum really sucks! The format is stuck in the 80's. I've never seen another forum like this. What is this, the 19th century? What's the population of this forum anyway? 10? What a crappy of a forum! Please change to the 21st century format!

A Z would be better for autox than an S? Are you high? Two cars you shouldn't mess with in autox are S2000 and Miata. Light-weight cars with superb handling rule when it comes to autox. I would go up against any Z, stock or modified, in autox.
Next thing you'd tell me is how a Mustang would be better for autox than a Miata because it has better torque. Shame on ignorance!
I can keep my 4-wheel motorcycle (S2000) in high RPM's the whole time when I autox. Not even a problem.

what are you even doing here and why are you rambling on about honda's motorcycle 'heritage' ... it's a car forum, a Z car forum, do you own a z?? no...so why dont you go back to where you came from...
