So I am driving home today on the highway, and this old station wagon (from the 70s) comes flying up behind me. It's stop and go traffic and he ends up beside me. He guns it a few times, so I am thinking this clown wants to race. No sweat. We hit a clear stretch so I floor it. He does too. And blows my doors off. I'm thinking, no f%^&ing way! So we do it twice more with the same result. I have no idea what this guy did to modify his car, but good god!
Anyone else run into some weird stuff like that????

definately,,,My dad has an old pinto with a cobra HO in it...old paint, startsky and hutch style.....yeah, lots of kids in their fixed up mustangs and whatever usually are quite surprised.

Watch out for late 80's early 90's Volvo wagons. There are a few out there that have been modified, 5.0 Mustang engines and modified suspensions. Most of them are in the northeast since the biggest conversion guy was in Connecticut.

i used to be able to do that with my audi s4. it looks like a pretty standard piece-of-crap audi to most folks (the A4 was the societal benchmark), but when you pushed it, those twin turbos would fire off just right it was like a jet. i swear i pulled a few < 5 sec 0-60's. butt-dynos are not reliable, however.
would often surprise the heck out of people from work when we'd be on our way to lunch and i'd punch it to get around some doofus.
sleepers are a lot of fun.

I was randomly paired with a Sanford & Son pickup truck years ago at a grudge night at the local 1/4 mile track. I was in my Mustang, feeling pretty confident. The tree goes green and this guy is gone. He pulled a 10.xxx. Never did find out what he had under the hood.
