Q:

I found this in this website just browsing around at the drag event.

Um, what are you talking about. I guess you didn't read the thread properly. Even one of the people on there said 90% driver skill, 10% car. Were you hoping to come back here and get a crowd of Zcar Z33 forum people to go over there saying, "No way"? Riiiiight. Give a slower car a good driver and he'll probably beat a faster car with a bad driver.

I guess the 350z was sleeping on the line. need to practice some more to improve reaction time.
But just curious are Altima really that quick? How quick? what the the numbers???
A:

The 350Z and the Altima 3.5 have the same weight.
14.1 vs 14.8
287HP vs 240HP
A:

The altimas for 02/03 were just a bit slower than the maximas of the same year, maximas hitting mid 14's stock and altima's high 14's/15 flat. I haven't seen any 04 versions at a track, so i can't verify any magazine #'s.

someone said the 02/03 Altima's were slower than the 02/03 Maxima's.
I own a 6 speed 2003 SE Maxima. At the strip the Maxima has to shift into 4th gear before crossing the 1/4 mile.
The 5 speed Altima doesn't. Because of this, Altima's are usually a little quicker (on average - drivers even) than the Maxima...
One might argue that the 2002 Altima has only 240bhp while the Maxima has 255bhp.
Well, many of us on www.maxima.org have taken our 3.5L Maxima's to a dyno, and we have only 204bhp at the wheels, and 218 ft/lbs of torque.
Guess what other japanese sedan has those exact numbers?
The 2002 and 2003 Altima.
but about the race between the 350Z and the Altima, either the Altima had a few mods, or the 350Z was running some bad gas...but it probably came down to the driver.
My best 1/4 mile time was a 14.802 in my 6 speed Maxima - COMPLETELY stock, including spare tire, stock air filter, stock tires....at 1000 ft elevation.
Yes, some Maxima's run mid 14's stock, and some Altima 5 speeds run low 14's stock.
but we know the 350Z can run high 13's stock.
one drag race doesn't make the Altima a better sporting machine.

VQ now you know its some stock 6spd Maxima at that the org their are some stock 02/03 Maximas running much lower than your times stock some very low 14's ( one with an intake hit 13.9). Yes the 02/03 Maximas may have actually had only 245 hp at the wheel but they were underrated in the torque several dynos have proeved that, I am sure you have seen those at the org as well. Now auto to auto times I have on my Max and what I have seen the 02/03 Maximas edge the Alits out. You ar eright about the 6spd although, I love both my Max and our 350 later.

Altima 3.5 SE 0-60/qtr @ 5.9/14.6
Maxima 3.5 SE 6.4/15.0
350Z Tour 5.5/14.3
Just comes down to the driver and track conditions.

These numbers should not be so close. That is like Chevy making the Malibu as fast as a Corvette, or Ford making a Taurus as fast as a Mustang.
A:

Actually didn't FORD hire Yamaha to build some real engines for the SHO Taurus that made it faster than a Mustang?
A:

"SHO Taurus that made it faster than a Mustang?"
I never got beaten by that grocery getter...
