A&Q about 350Z
Q:
This is my only complaint too, please post any news on this. I also get a high pitched noise after only 10k miles.
The dealer also says they can't change just the pads without buying a new disk for each tire.

About 3 weeks ago, I was pissed off about the dust too and asked the parts guy at my dealership what to do. He happened to have the NISMO pads in stock and sold them to me at a decent discount (I'm sure he made up for it on labor). Have not had a spec of dust since I put those pads on.

actually, brake dust, though annoying, is a good sign. it is something brakes should do in the wearing process.
the problem with the nismo upgraded pads is that they can actually reduce your stopping distance for street driving. overall, they operate most effectively at higher temperatures (the type you might achieve on a track), and will perform admirally. on the street, you will rarely heat the brakes up enough.
everyone i know who tracks take their nismos off within a few days after the tracking.
not sure about other less-dust pads.

I two pads for the front wheels for $70 + tax. I think the regular price is > $100. The installation cost was about $90 bucks though. Been 4 weeks now and I havn't even had to wipe off the front wheels, so I'm happy.

Lodus,
Any negative affects on stopping?

Thanks for the info Lotus.

Hawk HPS pads. Extremely reduced dust levels. Stopping ability equal to improved over stock. Can sometimes get slight squeak when applying brakes.
BTW, install is extremely easy, even for someone with little technical know-how. As long as rotors don't need turning of course. Also remember to seat the pads well, instructions come with the pads.
Good luck.

I havn't noticed any difference in stopping, but I'm not really pushing the car hard. Just drive it to work and back everyday, and maybe kick it around a bit on the weekend. Very little opportunity\need to really slam the brakes. I'd say for everyday purposes there are no ill effects, and not needing to clean the wheels every 2-3 days has made me *alot* happier with the car.
There may be some difference, as 350zNewbie mentioned, but I can't tell thus far.

Does anyone know if the Hawk pads contain metal? My son who has raced cars says some contain copper - which will eat into the drums. The pads last longer - but replacing the drums is e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e !

I have the Greenstuff in the front and Hawk HPS in the back. The Dust is virtually gone, and stopping is really good. A little bit of a squeal tho. And w/ 4 wheel discs, you don't have drums dude.
