A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I have an enthusiast with the stock stereo system. I am looking to add an amp and a 12 in. sub. I would like the sub to be installed behind the drivers seat like the bose sys.. Wondering if anyone has done this, if there is a precut panel to buy and insert the sub, or if the existing panel needs to be cut. Also, what type of shielding needs to be done in the speaker box.
I would like the amp to be small and hidden. I really only need 3 outputs 1 for the sub and 2 for the back speakers (I will power the front speakers with the head unit). Any ideas on a good affordable small sub and where it can be concealed within the car as I do not want it to be visible.
If anyone has any information on installers that have worked on the 350z system and done a good job let me know. I am in the orange county area, the closer to Huntington Beach the better
Thanks Guys-Znis NV

I have done the install. Buy the sub cover from courtesynissan.com in Richardson Texas. I bought the sub and amp from Frys as I live in Las Vegas. There is a Frys in your area at El Segundo.

Not sure how much boom you are looking for. But I have an Infinity Basslink in the sub compartment. It's a 10" sub/amp combo. Just the right amount of punch.

I have an enthusiast and done the same install, 10" infinity in the sub cut-out with the Bose kick panel (ordered at the local Won dries Nissan dealer in Alhambra for about $8.00 bucks) with two alpine amps in the dead enclosure space. Appropriate soundproofing in the enclosure is definitely recommended to avoid the gangsta thump IMO. I also installed infinity components up in front and regular 3-way infinity in the rear with the stock head unit now the White Stripes 7 nation army sounds awesome.

Track,
Since the Basslink has a housing it doesn't need to be mounted onto the sheet metal cutout. You can simply mount it in the open space back there. Be careful not to mount it with screws on the floor of the space as you risk drilling into the fuel pump. You really have two options for mounting in that space:
1) Use a sawzall to cut out the circle (If you never plan to mount a free air sub in there it will save a lot of time)
2) You have to remove the plastic components in the midsection to gain access to the sub panel (this is what I did).
Once everything is installed you can replace the compartment cover.
