Folding wing mirrors?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I'm considering buying a new 350z, but my garage is only 1825mm wide, and according to the spec the 350z is 1815 wide, leaving me only 5mm on each side of my wing mirror!! That's not really enough....
But I have read that it has electric folding wing mirrors? Can these be retracted from inside the cockpit with the touch of a button? How much does this reduce the width of the car by? Can these be operated whilst still moving (i.e. driving into my garage)? Any help would be appreciated - I really like the car.....

If so, I haven't found that button yet. They will fold in by hand, but not much.
What good will that do you anyway? How will you get out of the car (open the door)?
A:

electronic folding wing mirrors...lol No the Z is not the batmobile. It has electric mirrors. as in the mirror will move from inside the car but not the whole structure. However you can manually like on most cars push the whole mirror in towards the car for more clearance which i believe is what your talking about. this would rrequire you to get out of the car to fold the passenger side mirror in though.

5mm on both sides...you better be a good driver:)
get the car anyway!

now, arguably the interior of the garage could be a bit wider than the garage door. this would address OLMNNTZ's point about getting the car door open once you're inside the garage. but seriously, HOW much wider could that really be? a couple of feet on either side? that means that getting in and out of the car in the garage is akin to a tight parking spot in the Publix parking lot. good luck with that!
once, many many years ago when i was young and naive, my jeep had the starter die while it was in the garage of my condo. i lived on a hill, probably about a 15 degree down pitch to the driveway leading to the garage. steep!
so, i figure i can push the jeep out of the garage in neutral, and just as it gets through i can get in through the door before it rolls too much further, and guide it onto the street which is itself a steep hill heading down. the jeep is parked nosefirst into the garage, so i'll be backing down the driveway.
ok, so i start this abortion of a plan. i push the jeep through, and just as it starts to roll through the garage door, i run to go get on the other side so i can open the door and hop in ---- but wait! i didn't check first and there's only a few inches on either side of the jeep as it's going through the opening! this means i have to WAIT until the jeep is fully through before i can get to the other side. so the jeep is rolling, i ready myself, and dash through the space as soon as it's wide enough (i got a little scratched from the side bumper as it wasn't completely through yet).
the jeep promptly picks up speed, and i can't get the door open because the jeep is moving away from me backwards, so even when the door does open, it's in front of ME so i can't get around it fast enough because it's moving faster down the driveway.
so, i just abandon all hope and watch it helplessly. it rolls out into the street. slowly it crosses the street and heads for the neighbor's yard, which is an embankment at about a 20 degree pitch DOWN, so if it makes it all the way across, it will plunge down and crash into their house.
the jeep slowly arcs backwards, slows, and stops for a moment, about 3 feet from the far edge. it then rolls straight forward, and stops at the base of my driveway. i jumped in, bump started it, put the garage door down, and went to work.
no one saw this happen to my knowledge. shortly thereafter i got the chance to move, and i took it!

Yeah, I did something similar with an old Corolla I had. I was desperate for a late night gut bomb so I took a trip to an all night Denny's kinda place. I parked on the side street and went in and satisfied my craving. When I came back out though, the damn car was gone....obviously stolen. Why would anybody steal that p.o.s? Well, a quick scan revealed it...it was literally 2 and a half blocks down the street, up on the parking strip, against a tree. Fortunately there was no apparent damage, at least none that wasn't already on it....I guess it never really picked up much steam. Amd more fortunately, it was 2 in the morning so nobody was watching my little theater.

My story - some years ago I had a Nissan pickup - came home from work and parked in my carport ( which was located just outside our kitchen window ) Our drive had about a 15% incline getting into the carport.
I was sitting at the kitchen table and looked to the carport - no truck! Upon going outside my truck had rolled across the street ( a big fancy Cadillac parked in the driveway directly opposite )
Luckily -upon leaving my drive - the truck had made a slight turn to its left - clipped my mail box - on a post - and ended partially in a yard next to the neighbors drive.
Ever since that day - I never get out of a car without setting the parking brake. Somehow - the truck had jumped out of park ( cant remove the key without it being in Park ) - and took off!
