A&Q about 350Z
Q:
First just want to say hi i havent posted in awhile the long winter with the Z was very frustrating. I also crashed my baby and had 11,000 dollars worth of damage that was pretty depressing too.
For my ? everyone talks about tire feathering and i always just ignored it, but for the past few weeks when i slow down i noticed alot of road noise coming from underneath my car. Is this a sign? is it time for new tires? I have just over 11k on my car ive had it for 1 year.

I wondered what was going on with you JailguardZ!
Yes, you have the dreaded tire feathering/cupping/chopping problem.
You first notice it when braking and driving under 30 mph.
It gets louder as time goes by.
Don't let your Nissan Dealer tell you "We never heard of this problem".
Insist on new front tires. Don't let them do the TSB front tire side to side swap. It will come back quick!
And yes it is covered in warranty. It is not a tire issue (12 months/12,000 miles), it is a suspension issue (36 months/ 3years).

Give them a chance to remedy the problem before getting in their face.
Just let them know that you have a "friend" that has had the same problem and Nissan replaced their front tires (at no cost).
Good luck and keep us posted.

You know, I asked around about tire feathering to my friends who own covettes and camaros and sports cars in general. They do not have it, however they all have to change their tires every 15 to 20k sometimes even at 11k. I mean it is an allignment problem for sure, but I was relieved to hear that the Nissan Zs were not the only ones wearing down quickly, and by the way, they are not agressive drivers either.

Don't worry, Nissan will get it right someday...
