Some have had bad trannys, but some (like me) just needed to adapt our shifting habits as we were engaging the clutch too soon before the shifter went all the way into the gate. It happened because some of us were trying to shift too fast before we got used to the feel of the whole process.

A:
just had my Z - 6 weeks , had a 300 ZX from 1990 to 1995. Had difficulty learning to shft the 6 vs the 5. I think the problem is likely either feeding gas while shifting , or getting the rpm too high before shifting. - or perhaps a combo of the two - or letting the clutch out a bit too quickly when shifting. It's a whole new learning process going from the 1995 Maxima to the 350Z.
