Hard Wire V1

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I'm trying to hardwire my z down to the fuse box. There are several wires leading out of the boxes above the fuse box. Does anyone know which one specifically to crimp the V1s little blue wire connector to? or should I just cut that off and strip the end bare and wedge it in with the fuse?
A:

Please forgive my ignorance but, why are you doing that?
A:

so that I don't have a long wire hanging down over my dash leading back to the power adapter between the seats
A:

Oh, I got it now. Good luck with that. I wish I knew the answer.
A:

check out my350z.com ... they have several useful threads on hardwiring radar... along with a guy who sells custom rear-view mounts for the V1 and the 8500

search feature is broke there. I have searched manually as many threads as I can find. Nobody lists the specific wire they clipped into. Also, I can't seem to find a suitable screw for the ground down there either.
A:

the search feature here kinda sucks!

On the 350Z I wired my Valentine1 to the fuseblock like the Motorsal guy discussed with the exception of just finding an empty location on the fuseblock that was switched. Just get a test light and probe until you find a circuit that is on when the key is on and off when the key is off. Then, like the guy says find a suitable ground in the area.
I pulled the dead pedal out and then the plastic cover over the fuse location. Yes, the whole thing and not just the fuse door. You will have to take the trim off the door sill to get the panel off. Then, take the panel off the A pillar. It just snaps off. Well, you run the wire down to where you can hook it up and you are off to the races...

tbere is an empty location in the fusebox, i just can't remember the number. 18? 23? not sure. what you can do is take the V1 direct wire cable that has a spade connector on the end of it, and clip the spade in half with wire cutters. it is then wide enough to insert into the hot side of the empty fuse holder. since it's switched, it will only go hot when the ignition is turned on. since the V1 cable is also fused, you are protected by not using a fuse in the fuse box. for the negative lead, there is a screw up near the OBD-II connector that is grounded to the chassis. you can unscrew it and put the connector there. alternatively, you could just tap a metal screw into the frame up under the dash somewhere out of sight.
simple, not very elegant, but makes for easy removal if you need to. (and all you need are wire cutters, a screwdriver, attention deficit disorder, and no patience)

The website "the12volt.com" has some great information. Here is some of the wiring for the 350. I curious on how to run the wire up the pilar. I have side-curtain airbags and haven't mess with that area of the car. Let me know how it goes.
