A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Got new front tires two weeks ago. With less than 100 miles on them the left front started losing air to the tune of 10 lbs per day. Tried tightening the valve stem, no help.
Took it back to the dealer yesterday. They discovered two pin holes on the inner sidewall. Appeared to be a manufacturing defect. I now have a second new tire on the left front.
>>> Rumor Rumor Rumor <<< While talking with the service manager, I learned a "well connected" mutual friend recently totaled his '03. While talking with Nissan about buying a replacement, he was encouraged to wait for the 2005's because they will be "completely different". He was given no details. Keep in mind this is just second hand hearsay.
I love my Z. I just gotten tired of all the quality issues with it. I cannot imaging driving this car for more than a few more months.
Guess I'll wait to see if there are improvements for '05 before deciding what to buy.

Where about in TX? I just got replacements last Monday with 16000 miles on the car.

i was at the dealer when i traded in my coupe for a roadster, and the big announcement was in a packet from nissan they showed me (which they were not supposed to) and the big thing is a factory standard (or as an accessory for existing z's) turbo charger.

snif snifff snifff... I smell some BS. or a late april fools joke right? no really though, i know we have some dealers on this forum and im sure it would have been divulged by now if this were the case. but it is inevitable i just doubt it would be for next year. Maybe theyll throw the turbo out there to overshadow our 2003 woes and everyone will forget about all the problems .

BS, dealers would never tell u about any of that info. They wanna sell NOW not later on... They don't want u to wait... that's a bunch of bull.

If anything I think you will see an interior upgrade with some better materials. Nissan just did this to the Altima for the just released 2005 model. Yes, I said 2005 model. I just bought one for my wife last week. The interior has been really upgraded with better materials and controls. After all the negative comments concerning the 350Z's interior I would think that Nissan would do this change first.
I also feel that Nissan could easily bump up to torque and horsepower without a turbo. Maybe 310HP and 290 ft. Lbs. this would be using the same enigine, but with a few more tweaks.
My 2003 350Z is leased so when the lease is up I will be ready for the next version whatever it is.

First, I already own a Z. My discussion was with the service manger, not a sales guy.
I first asked if he was seeing the same level of quality problems with the 04's. He said there just aren't enough miles on them yet to know.
Then I asked "Is there any relief for the quality problems coming with the '05s?" That's when he repeated what he was told by the mutual friend.
It is highly unlikely Nissan would be anything but open and honest with the person involved. It's enough of a rumor that I'll at least wait until I get the story first hand before deciding what will replace my '03 Z.
