Speaker Problem..

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hey... I have a question, I just bought a brand new 04 Daytona Blue Enthuiast and I didn't get the bose or the navigation. I wanted to get my doors replaced and I have been to 3 or 4 different places, including best buy, circuit city, and talking to a tech guy from crutchfield. They all say that there are no 61/2 speakers out that will fit in the front doors. They say the magnet diameter is to small.....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any IDEAS ....

U need a spacer between the door and the speaker. Usually made out of wood or plastic. Most any store should know this

Thank You! so many people told me it couldnt be done!

Forget the spacers. Get Kenwood Excelon speakers. They use some sort of special double stacked magnet which has no depth but provides great sound. I had them in past cars and plan on using them again. Go to Kenwoodusa.com.

I put Excelons in my rear enclosures. 6 3/4" fit fine with no modifications. The tweeter tilts so they can be adjusted to aim at the driver. Great sound improvement over the OEM's. I took out the black cloth which seemed unnecesary. Didn't make any difference in looks and probably made the sound a little better. Plastic grill is overkill, IMO and I would have replaced it except for the hassle,

i actually have done this on my fronts with 6/2 polk momo. i got thenm from crutchfield the guy there said all i had to do was trim a bit off the panel to accomidate the magnet. just make sure you put some touch up paint or something like that on the exposed part of the metal(the part that you trim). good luck.

p.s it took me longer to take off the door panels than the install.
