Grill

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Let me know a variety of manufacturers of a mesh aluminum grill. I am leaning towards the Stillen but, I want to know if there are other patterns out there in the mesh.
A:

Another grill question too... Do any of the aluminum grills have the cutout for the tow hitch? I've got the tow hitch license plate adapter but haven't been able to determine if any of the aluminum grills have the cutout for it.

Hey znis, I have a Blue Z I just baught last week and I already put a grill on it. It cost me $180 including installation. I was watching the guy do it and it was very easy, I baght it at Nissan. They charged me $150 I just saw it a Stillen for like $120, if you go to their sight it is the second one, it looks sooooooooooo goood on the car. Trust me you won't be dissapointed, and the install is really easy, it clips on to your original. Well good luck man............
A:

It is on Ebay for less than $100.

pablosbrain,
I bought a grille from courtesyparts.com that has a tow hook hole in it. It is also stainless steel. Looks great in my opinion and I'm had a few people complement me on it as well.

PS. The pictures on their site do them no justice. I posted some picture on my350z.com but you need a login to see them. Just search for "Courtesyparts.com grille installation" and you should see the pics I posted.

rbaggettl,
Does yours look like this?

I like the stillen one better than the one courtesy nissan have. I love that mesh finish look that matches the door handles and my z badges. It does not have the toe hitch and I don't care. do we ever going to to use that whole?

a guy asked about the grill last week, this is what i posted...
"for front grille get chrome door edge guard from an auto parts store. cut it to length for the 3 bars that go across the front grille and put them on. I got mine for 10-12 bucks and put it on like over 10 months ago and use my Z as my daily driver and they still look great. here check it out on my car, its such a cheap mod and looks so good. It even looks good up close. everyone always thinks its stock."

Gotta admit it does look good for $12.00.
A:

I might try that... worth trying for 12 bucks.. Best part... if you don't like it... take em off..
A:

drivenz,
Nice dude. Did u go to AutoZone? What brand at the auto parts store?
A:

one thing i will say about the door edge guard grill is that if you do a half assed job on it it will definitly look half assed. If you take your time, cut the strips to the right length and make sure they are really stuck on well it will look good. The kind i used was a semi flexible polyurethane with the chrome on the outside and sticky inside. I heated the edges of each strip up with a hairdryer(dont heat up too much or it will mess up the chrome) then i bent the ends to go all the way to the edge of the grill(if you look at your grill the 3 lines go in at the edges) the edges werent staying stuck too well even after bending and heating them up so i just wraped each edge with a black zip tie(about 50 cents for all 6). it sounds a little complicated but i went through a little trial and error so anyone who wants to do it i think this is the best way. by the way the zip ties arent even visible. youll see what i mean buy the edges of the stock grill going in at the ends. some peoples i have seen neglected to go all the way to the edges with the chrome cause they didnt want to bend it or whatever and it didnt look very good. I tried that at first too and it looked half assed. the zip ties are really key though.
you can sort of see what im talking about in this pic. some people stopped where it starts to bend. you gotta go all the way

well im having a brain freeze right and cant remeber the store i bought it at but im positive autozone or a like store will have it. i cant find a picture of of it but look at this site and use your imagination. that is what they look like on the inside sort of(especially the top one and the blue one towards the bottom) except the outside is chrome. it came in three strips about 4ft long. Actually the 12 bucks was for 2 packs(6) just in case i messed up.

drivenZ,
The only one i could find was like 23 ft. and 3/8" wide. It was wrapped in a coil sort of speak. Is this ok for the width? What was your width?
