A&Q about 350Z
Q:
tc - something to think about... if today's engines had complete combustion why would today's cars need catalytic converters???
endgames - I agree with tc and the moisture.. You prolly got some water or condensation in your exhuast from the wash. IMO - from time to time it is a good practice to run your engine up to redline. I wouldn't do it sitting at idle though. You'll get better results under load like in third gear.

It does no good whatsoever to rev your car at idle, if not harm. If you rev your car too hard without it getting up to proper operating temperatures you'll get some oil through your exhaust, which is most likely what you experienced. A small amount of 'smoke' is normal if your car has been sitting long enough to build up some moisture in the exhaust pipes.

More than anything else I wanted to hear the fine note of the exhaust echoing off of my garage door. But blowing out the carbon seemed like a good excuse if anyone questioned what I was doing! :-)
Thanks for the input on the moisture, I actually did wash my car the day before so there is a good chance that there was water collecting in my pipes. Yes, I washed my car twice this weekend....We are having great weather...
