A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I dont know what the sound is. But when my car gets to normal operating temperature, I hear this sound. It ONLY can be heard at normal operating temperature. It's heard at idle only too. I've always heard a similar noise to this, but it seems like it has gotten a little louder.
It sounds likes this "tick a tick a tick a tick a"
You can really hear it ,if you're outside of the vehicle with your ear near the front/driver's side wheel.
I tried hunting the noise down with the hood up. But all I hear are the injectors firing. The noise seems to be coming from more so the bottom.
My car runs great, I have no f*** clue what this noise is. Anyone else have this noise? Sounds almost like rockers or something. I use 5w30 Mobil 1 syn and my oil level is good right now. Oil pressure is good at idle too.
ps: it is not the "clutch out, car in neutral" throwout bearing rattle sound that all 6 speeds have.

This noise MAY be the heat shields on your exhaust system. That would explain 'operating temperatures' before it becomes audible. Like the noise the car makes after being turned off. tick tick tick - the stretch of the heat shields. It may only be at idle because it's a) subtle, and b) may go away when the air from the fan blows on the shielding. Is it rhythmic?
