Do a session with it on an do a session with it off. You figure out which better suits your driving, and so you don't have to take anyone's word for it.

the times I've cooked it into a corner the gizmo really kicks in. Hit the off button and let the car tell you what it needs.
Have fun. Let us know how it goes, okay?
A:
turn it off it takes too much torque away from your engine.

Depends on the course. I am an autoX newbie (been 1 time) and I have had the VDC save my ass in fast turns. You can feel it kick in just when the car is about to completley let go and heave you right into a light pole or curb. Autocross is about fun, not deductibles. But if you are on a course \w no obstacles\walls then yeah, leave it off.
